Dream a Dream, Change the World
In a world of social media, reality shows and what seems like unlimited corporate greed, how does one earn a good living and change the World? I believe I have a good answer. My whole life I have only wanted to help others, I ran errands for seniors and I have been in elected office for the last ten (10) years.
I enjoy what I do as an elected member of my local Board of Education. I know that the role I play of making policy and controlling costs on the Board of Education is important to the children, parents and taxpayers in my District. I would love to be paid for my work but every time I walk down the street and see one of the countless children or adults who gained an Education through the Atlantic City Board of Education I smile. I smile because I know my tireless volunteer efforts have had a major impact on someone else.
I don’t know if there is a formula or something that equates to how much one person has made an impact on another or the world but, I know that the value of an education has and will always be a defining part of a persons financial well being. On a global scale the more income one earns means the more they can purchase and as such the more the contribute to the economy and finally the more this Country can contribute to other countries.
In closing, If I could be paid as a member of my local Board of Education it would allow me to do more for the parents students and tax payers in my city. I know paying Civil servants in Education is seen as taboo so it probably wont happen but I think it would bring more people into the field if they offered a little compensation…. I’m just saying.
