I am taking this opportunity to write to you about why I feel I deserve your scholarship. Unfortunately, because of finances, I cannot afford student loans. I would like to go to the Salt Lake Community College and graduate with a Nursing Degree. It was an aspiration of mine since grade school, to grow up and help people in need like my parents did.
I am taking steps to getting my experience that I need for when I do begin school. I am currently enrolled in a volunteer program at the University of Utah Hospital named Hospital Elder Life Program. The program consists of volunteers who can walk patients, interact in therapeutic activities, and games.
I have taken it upon myself to help anything in need, emotionally or physically. There is no better place to do that, than in a hospital. In the volunteer program, I have had patients tell me that their stay was more enjoyable when I went to visit them. And to be able to do it as my career, there is nothing more than I can ask for.
Once obtaining my Nursing Degree, I would like to start employment at the University of Utah Hospital, where I feel my specialty is needed most in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read over this, and I am very excited in taking this new step towards beginning my life as a nurse.
