I want to be a graphic designer because I want to change the world. At first glance, it may seem nonsensical—a graphic designer doesn’t save the dying or promote world peace. However, the designer does give voice to the ideas and efforts that do things such as these.
Every person has within in them the ability to change the world in a significant way, however, many people lack the means to communicate these ideas on a large scale and in an impactful and engaging way. That is where I come in.
I have always loved art and using its many forms to express myself. I believe art is one of the most profound modes of communication. As a graphic designer, I will work with the many people who possess valuable ideas and aid them in communication.
To begin the quest toward my dream, I have decided to return to school to pursue a degree in graphic design. As my skill set grows, I plan to reach out to local organizations (churches, food banks, etc.) to see if they could use assistance with specific graphic design projects. In doing so, I will learn more about local causes and use my talents to help them to influence and grow.
It is my dream that both now and in the future, my design will allow others to spread and communicate their many ideas and dreams through the modality of art. And this spreading and communication will be the catalyst that elicits change.
