A significant key in life is communication. We communicate on a daily basis through many mediums including but not limited to newspapers, television, internet, phones, and even simply by speaking to one another. However, one of the many challenges society faces as a whole today is communication. I love learning languages – specifically Spanish. If I know someone speaks a language other than Spanish or English, I make it a point to ask how to say basic words in that language such as “hello” or “thank you”. I would love to experience being a translator. I only took two years of Spanish in high school so I would need to challenge myself in college with more classes in Spanish to progress my vocabulary. Shadowing a translator is another goal for myself to see what he/she goes through on an average day. This could not only help me improve my knowledge of the language, but it could also teach me how to effectively communicate – a skill overlooked by many people in the world. I’ve always been told that if everyone in the world would just tweak the way they convey messages, we would have a better form of communication through each other.
