C.U.T.S.: Chrysalis Unisex Therapeutic Salon
I am Emili P. Richardson and I am a 34 year old mother of 2 wonderful children. I have been accepted to attend Howard University in Washington, DC. This will afford me the opportunity to earn a living doing what I love the most, helping others to change their lives for the better. I was an instructor of cosmetology at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL, a hair designer, as well as a volunteer with “Look Good, Feel Better” for the American Cancer Society. I will use my skills and passion for what I do currently, to begin a career in counseling. I will incorporate the two professions to offer counseling to those that may feel a stigma attached to seeking professional help. They will have a place where they feel comfortable as my client and not everyone has to know that they are receiving professional counseling. I was a stylist to a cousin that committed suicide and I wish that I had known how to help her while she was in my chair. I have learned that hairstylists touch more than just hair; we have the ability to touch hearts and minds, and change lives. I am on a mission to provide this service to women, men and children. I have a strong desire to change as many lives as possible in a positive way as a therapist, as I have as an instructor and as a stylist.
