I would do anything, give anything, to be able to change the way we handle education here in the U.S. I have always been interested in technology, but only just now have I found a new passion for creative and innovative educational tools. After watching my brother, who’s multiple learning disabilities make him so anxious about reading and learning, become so engrossed in video games and the fantastical stories they provide, the seeds of my most ambitious project yet were sowed in my mind. I would love to harness the enthralling powers of games to revolutionize the way our children learn. My current dream is to make an educational game that makes learning not feel like learning by showing the players of my game the power of words and complex synonyms. Through exploring a vast fictional world using the might and magic of words, my plan is that the young players of my game unconsciously learn and assimilate the advanced vocabulary their in-game heroes use in their grand quest. Drawing from SAT word lists to prepare students for standardized testing, I hope that my idea is most effective with young kids like my brother, who are so brilliant but have disabilities that conflict with the way schools operate in the U.S. In the very near future I plan to make this a reality by opening my very own independent development studio to make a name for myself and find the help I need to make this dream a reality.
