It’s a little strange saying I have a passion for plastic bottles, or that I want to find a way to work with plastic bottles for the rest of my life, but that’s exactly what I want to do! More specifically, I want to build bottle houses. The two most problematic issues in America, waste and homelessness, have one very simple solution. Bottle houses! Did you know that America throws away around 38 billion plastic bottles a year? That’s enough plastic bottles to wrap around the earth 2.5 times! My goal in life is to cut down on this waste while also helping to reduce homelessness by building low budget housing using…bottles! By tying sand filled bottles into column/ wall like structures and reinforcing them with concrete we create housing that is cheap, requires no extra insulation, and is tornado and earthquake resistant! I hope that with my degree in Business management I’ll be able to start my own charity that, among other charitable projects, specializes in these bottle houses. Because the idea of using bottles as building material is so new there’s still room for improvement and expansion. Which means I have room to improve and expand the house building process. It’s my goal to, literally, make bottle houses a household name by improving the process while eliminating negative opinions about living in a house made of plastic. Above every thing else I want to help the world be a little friendlier, to people and to the earth.
