I have always held the utmost respect for people who participated in peaceful protests, boycotts, and general activist activities for causes in which they strongly believed. If I were able to earn a living doing what I loved the most, I would become a full-time feminist activist. Feminism is not about allowing women to become more dominant than men. Feminism is about creating an equal society for people regardless of their gender. I would want to help create a society where little girls are able to dream about working within the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering without the threat of not being taken seriously because of their gender. This society would allow little boys to play with dolls, enjoy tea parties, and wear the color pink without being seen as too “feminine”, which is one of the worst insults a male can receive today. I would assist in the building of rape clinics for both female and male victims. These clinics would provide victims with treatment provided by understanding individuals. Questions concerning what they were wearing, whether or not they had been drinking, or if they were “asking for it” will not be asked. Most importantly, I would want to help spread the word that feminism is not about hating men or only concerns the struggles that women face. I would want to help teach that feminism includes everyone who is affected by the patriarchy.
