I envision a world where words are a work of art and photography is a medium for which one can see life in its own unique way. Combining the two is a means for me to capture life’s magnificence and grace. Becoming a photojournalist would bring me much fulfillment for it is a field where images make a lasting impact and words define truths. Pictures may not always depict beauty, but those that portray the pain in society can also bring about much needed change. One of my goals would be to work as a volunteer for the local newspaper and magazine publishers in my community. I must play a role in bringing about change to where it is familiar to me so that I can learn how my world affects those in other communities. Social media is another way to bring about change in the world. Capturing life as it happens creates movements where one person can help, praise, or follow in their footsteps in order for our communities to flourish. A picture of the sun-kissed grass, an old man on a street corner or a mother embracing her child all bring forth emotions. Our state of mind creates and dictates how one perceives life. Capturing images of this beautiful earth would deepen my understanding of how life is intricately woven. As a photojournalist, providing a means of leaving a legacy of hope and understanding would be a dream come true.
