There are more slaves today than ever before and 1.8 million of these slaves are sex slaves. If I could earn a living doing what I love most, it would be putting forth every resource and energies I have to abolish this slavery and free the people involved in this atrocity. I want to get a business and teaching degree to work with non-for-profit organizations (such as the A21 organization) that solely work with saving these girls and helping them rebuild lives within a normal society. Whether that is teaching them basic life skills, or educating them, even helping in the first moments of a rescue. During my college years I hope to become an intern for one of the organizations, this will enable me to have a foot in the door and first hand experience. These women and children have had all dignity and sense of life stripped away from them, I want to aid in the programs that give back to these girls what was taken from them. I would use my education to spread the awareness of the sex slave trade to all parts of the world, even in America. William Wilberforce once said this “You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” I want to spread the awareness of slavery so that no one could ever say they did not know, so even the helpless can have the chance to make a difference in this world
