I have a passion for English, and what better way is there to express my passion, other than to teach it. In the long run, I see myself as an English professor. Sure my desire to be a professor is on the opposite end of the spectrum in relations to some of my childhood dreams, but what I find more important is that my motivation to be one also lies on the opposite end of the spectrum. No longer do I seek to hear the pleasant responses from people who ask me what I plan to do after college, but I think about my strengths, and passions to see what path I want to take. I can’t honestly say that I will change the world directly but I do believe that I have the ability to be direct in the lives of my students, therefore, indirectly changing the world.
My biggest goals would be to develop an attitude that would never discourage a student from reaching his or her full potential. I do not just aim to teach them, but to motivate students as well. I cannot afford to go a single day and have a student leave my class knowing only what he or she walked in knowing. I cannot enter the classroom without being patient, versatile, and dedicated. I am not the faint – at – heart, but will persist in my ability to be a leader, who educates future leaders, of that I am sure.
