I wasn’t very popular in school and was taken advantage of by the wrong group of people by the time I was in high school. My lack of self-esteem led me into an abusive relationship with a man who almost killed me twice. I practically raised myself and my brothers as my mother struggled with addiction for many years so I could’ve easily been swallowed by the world around me. I made a choice to be myself and experience the world through the military and other avenues so I want to share my experiences in hope that I can touch many and encourage them to be more than their environment.
I want to open up a business that caters to teenagers similar to a recreation or YMCA center but with much more to do. I want to create an environment for teens that’s fun and safe. During that process I would want to stay highly engaged in the operations and activities that go on in the center. I would like to create opportunities for learning, self-growth, awareness, host job fairs, volunteer opportunities, offer tutoring, and find a way to engage the youth to get more involved with the community so that they stay out of trouble elsewhere.
During the day, I would travel the country visiting middle and high school students talking to them about the importance of being themselves and not doing what’s popular. In doing so, I’d create stronger more productive youth groups with a purpose in life.
