Every since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a psychologist. Now that I am an entering undergraduate student in college, I am taking the necessary steps to make my dream a reality. I am currently majoring in psychology in aspiration to become a sex education teacher. There is an increase among teenagers being diagnosed with STDs and even HIV everyday. My reason of choice of this career path is because I have a desire to enlighten and mentor teenagers on how to protect their bodies, build their self-esteem, and make them feel empowered so they can accomplish their goals.
I am very passionate about today’s youth and the problems that they face in our society. I have observed that there is an increase in negative influence in today’s society. It is my perception that they need a positive role model to guide, support, and encourage them to be themselves. Although I am a teenager myself, I believe that I can make a difference in my community among my peers.
I currently attended many youth summits and have graduated from classes that are hosted by the Aletheia House located in Birmingham, Alabama. I am currently seeking programs and classes in Huntsville, Alabama, to gain more knowledge and potential certification in this field. I am going after what I want because not only will I be helping myself and others, but I will also be helping society. I am determined to make my dream a reality.
