Similar to many people my passions in life are multifaceted. Simply put, I have two major loves in life: people and art. I love to learn as much as I can about people to further understand their lives and help them improve their holistic well being. I love art because it is transcendent of any barriers that language may impose, allowing me to gain deeper understanding of many philosophies from many cultures. If I could “earn a living” by doing what I love I would need an ample amount of body paint. I would travel the world, meeting with countless people from the most diverse cultures, and ask them to use their bodies as a paintbrush. I would cover a large area of floor with canvas, surrounding it with large flats of many different colors. The people would be asked to use any colors they desire, and create their heart’s desire. Music can be played, or there can be silence. People can paint in groups, or alone. Once I’ve gathered a sufficient amount of art, I would then compare: how well are the lives these people live? I will set up a system of analysis on the paintings: the colors, the types of strokes made, what parts of the body were used, and do a cross-cultural study on body image and personal happiness. I hope my work will not only provide a stress reliever for participants, but also helpful insights on which cultures are living the best lives possible.
