I walk into a room with a warm environment, yet I am still so nervous. People are sitting in chairs all around me and I begin feel as though they are all staring at me. Knowing how paranoid I am, I just look down at the floor until they call my name. The floor is just like any other floor. It is boring and not all that exciting. My anxiety kicks in any finally a voice breaks the silence as a young woman enters the room. She says, “Hi, my name is Lauren. I am a psychotherapist to help guide you.”
My goal is to become a psychotherapist. I am currently enrolled at Stockton College as undeclared, but soon to be psychology major with a minor in Spanish. I have overcome many obstacles with anxiety and depression, but I am still learning to cope.
My happiness will be fulfilled when I help people get through their obstacles as well. I will teach them coping techniques including, but not limited to breathing, imagery, and self- esteem activities. I cannot wait to help others achieve their goals and make them happy with themselves. I will be happiest knowing that they will take what I have taught them to a whole new level.
