Horrific screaming, glass breaking, children wailing; these are the sounds of war zones in homes around the world. The home should be a place of serenity, free of combat. The world can be intimidating and merciless, but the home should be a refuge from the outside domain. I know these cruelties all too well. As a young child, I was unable to call my home a safe haven. I lived in warfare and was devastated by the battlefields within my home. I dreamed of surviving the dysfunctions of this family. I wanted to become someone that would fix the demolition in homes similar to mine. I later realized that I wanted to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Knowing that I will not be able to personally counsel all wounded families, I intend to reach others through my publications. My divine purpose, I am convinced is to become an Advocate of Peace for the victims of this war, all the while restoring the love they once had. This scholarship is not just for me; it is for the wife that is sickened by her home life, for the young boys and girls that stay late after school to avoid the conflicts at home and it is for the husband whose childhood demons keep reappearing into his adult life. Receiving this scholarship will be a tribute to the restoration of broken families.
