To Change the Way Readers Think

What I want to do more than anything else in the world is just to write. To be able to do it as a profession – writing fiction and getting paid for it – would be a dream come true for me.
The way I would change the world is to help the people who don’t enjoy reading to actually enjoy it. As a reader and a writer, I can’t wrap my head around the concept of people not enjoying books and words. My goal would be to change that, to help more people appreciate the act of sitting down with a book and getting lost in a world that’s not your own. To become someone else for just a short amount of time, to completely lose yourself within another person’s story. There’s something magical about books where it’s so easy to forget where and who you are, and just let yourself be.
My major is English with a focus on creative writing, and I’ll be attending DePaul University where the Liberal Arts program is very strong, and has an intense focus on creative writing. The classes focus on putting pen to paper and getting your hands dirty instead of just standing on the sidelines waiting for something to happen without getting involved. I’m going to completely immerse myself within the world of writing and get an internship that will get me one step closer to my dream job of becoming an established author someday.
