“There can be no joy in living without joy in work.”
– St. Thomas Aquinas
In today’s society, students are encouraged to go to school, get a degree, establish a career, and make a living. We receive peer pressure from friends and family in what path to travel, but what if we were told to follow our passion and do what we love? As a student, I am blessed with the privilege to select a profession that will not only benefit me, but others around me. If I was given the opportunity to do what I love, my current life choice would not change. I would continue my education as an Audiology and Speech Language Pathology major and apply that education to help others. Audiology and Speech Pathology is an extremely rewarding field. I will be working with men, women, and children of all ages to improve speech impediments and hearing disabilities which will be beneficial later in life. I will become fluent in American Sign Language and learn to better communicate with others. I would love to take this knowledge and apply it around the world. I would help people receive the proper therapy they may not normally receive with their country’s healthcare, help them to learn new languages, and give them resources to continue bettering their hearing and language development. Something so small can change their lives in an extreme way while also giving me valuable life experiences.
