Sometimes the idea of success centers upon a handful of big, life-changing events. That isn’t always the case; the majority of the time it is the small, seemingly insignificant steps toward your dream that end up changing the world. My hope is to become a Veterinary Technician. I grew up around a veritable zoo of animals and they quickly became very important to me.
As a Vet Tech, I would be entrusted with the before and after care of animals, as well as much of the lab work and husbandry. My initial goal is to get my Veterinary Technician Associates degree, this specific program requires many volunteer hours.
Hands-on experience is the most important aspect, in this line of work. After graduating, the next step would be finding a more intensive internship opportunity. I would love to be comfortable working with wild and domestic animals alike.
Many people don’t realize the affect that wild animals have on the ecosystem. As we grow, they adapt, and sometimes they need a little help. My ultimate goal is to work my way up to a staff position at a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center here in the U.S. It’s not a high-paying or glamorous job; the world needs hard-working people that want to make a difference, not money.
