Relay for Life has always been a big part of my life. Growing up I can remember attending Relay for Life fundraisers and events most every year with my mom’s Relay for Life team from work, as well as, fundraising on my own as a child participant. Then in the 8th grade I decided to start my own Relay for Life team through my high school and we were able to continue that for the next 5 years. While I will no longer be a part of that team this year, I know that it will continue for years to come by younger students. This fall I hope to continue being apart of Relay for Life and the American Cancer Organization through my college. If I could make a living doing what I love it would be to continue participating in Relay for Life and educating teens how they can be a part of this amazing organization. Most of the participants in my county’s Relay for Life event are adults, but the younger generations will be the ones to continue this work. I have decide to become a teacher so that I cannot only can I teach but so that I can also inspire other teens to start their own Relay for Life team at whatever school I end up teaching at. I hope that I can inspire at least one person to become a part of Relay for Life so that they may inspire someone else and so forth.
