Everyone has an idea of what kind of legacy they want to leave behind. To leave my mark on the world I want to become a traveling physician. In the year I was born my home country was falling victim to a genocide, and the health care system was failing; it still suffers greatly. As a result of living through that time and visiting later on, I realized I want to do as much as possible to help others who might fall into the same position. Once a physician, I plan to travel to countries who lack the most medical care, starting with my own home country. Helping the weakest and poorest countries gain their footing back would hopefully cause a chain of events that would increase the well being of the entire world and encourage others to take part in the movement. If success follows me then my efforts will cause new hospitals to open, improved medical care, and more physicians in these areas. Prolonging the lives of the people who live the shortest and helping the people who suffer from the most diseases seems like one of the best steps to start improving the world, and in ten years I will be doing just that.
