If I could have my dream job, I would own a school for children with special needs. These children would be taught that they simply are different, but that does not mean they are not able. I believe children who are born with special needs are often taught that they are unable to live up to the standards of what society considers normal and this is a shame. I believe I could teach children to BE able. I would secure them in their strengths and make them stronger, instead of focusing on their weaknesses and what makes them different. I would empower them to excel in the areas where they are strongest and make this their focus instead of constantly harping on the areas where they do not meet the educational standards set for by the government. I believe my country misses out on many great creative minds, artists, scientists, free thinkers because the standards say you have to read or do math or understand chemistry at specific levels in order to be successful, when some of our greatest leaders and history making figures throughout the world were special in a way that in 2014, they would be secluded from the general school population and be harassed over the topics that they have difficulty understanding. If I could do anything, I would show these children that they ARE able, not disabled.
