Reading is something that many of us take for granted. Most of American students are privileged to learn to read at a fairly young age and a shocking about of us let the skill go to waste. Sure we use it to read text messages and street signs, but what about fairytales and novels. I love to read. Anything from love stories to textbooks. Reading is one of the fastest ways to learn about anything you chose to open a book about and I find that amazing. I would love to be able to make a living by sharing my love of reading with underprivileged children, and even adults around the world that were never given the opportunity to learn to read. I feel as though these are the people that would appreciate the skill the most, and who knows how far it would take them. They could read and gain skills and knowledge which could lead to potential jobs and opportunities. Many people may not have the means of gaining an education, but why not enable them to educate themselves. In order to teach people around the world to read, I would have to set the challenging goal of first learning their native language. By learning their language and culture I would be able to effectively communicate with them and teach them to read in that specific language. Reading is a skill that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and I want share it.
