The most powerful weapon against injustice and oppression is hope. Hope arises from a song, a sweet lyric given a voice and harmonized in unity. During historical revolutions such as the Civil Rights movement, a revolution rose on the wings of music. The famous song “We shall overcome” was lifted up in lonely jail cells and in the midst of crowded marches. Upon these songs of hope freedom was born.

This is the very reason that I love creating music. Music goes beyond its composer until the music itself is alive and able to breathe life into those who hear it. I desire to create music that breathes hope, grace, peace, and justice into those who hear it. Indeed, “Faith comes by hearing.” Perhaps I could create even just one song that may inspire one person to have faith in the impossible.

Although this is an abstract dream, I wish to accomplish it in concrete ways. In the spring of 2015, I will obtain my Bachelors in International Business. Following this, I will pursue a law degree concentrated in Intellectual property. These degrees will lay the foundation for me to achieve the basic skills necessary to create a music business. Eventually, I would like to record other musicians but right now I am pursuing this dream by writing and recording my own songs. The music that comes from my soul has already inspired many and I desire to continue to give the world hope through song in the future.
