I’m walking as fast as I can. I’ve been wanting that dress for weeks now, and I’ve finally saved up enough money, but if I don’t hurry, someone will buy it before I do.
“Excuse me. Oops, sorry. Coming through!”
Thank God I wore my running shoes, I would’ve walked so much slower if I had worn my beach sandals. Just a few–
What was that?
I suddenly forget all about my dress. I look around frantically, my eyes darting back and forth.
My eyes meet with a pair of gingerbread colored eyes, gleaming and covered in tears. I walk towards this weeping little boy, amused by his tiny red jacket that looks like a replica of the one James Dean wore in “Rebel Without a Cause.” I kneel down next to him and ask if he’s okay.
“I’m lost but nobody will help me…” he whispers between sobs.
As I help this little boy find his mother, I realize that this is what I want to do for a living. I want to help people find their way, I want to be the shoulder to lean on, the friend they never had. It’s often the people who are ignored that have the greatest ideas. I want to show those who think they can’t that they can. With kindness, counseling, and inspiration, the world can become a brighter, more prosperous place; and this encouragement should all begin at a young age.
