Everyone’s goal in life is different, however, my goal in life is to be of service to my community and help shape a finer society. If I could earn a living doing what I love, it would be working in the Human and Social Services Department. Sociology allows me to understand how society works, and therefore find a way to make it better. My passion is to help people in need. I want to show them that social labels or stereotypes, such as economic status, gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, do not define who we are and should not be a burden towards what we can accomplish in life. If opportunity arises, I would also like to work for an international non-profit organization, such as Unicef. Our communities are not the only ones who need aid, the whole world does. International non-profit organizations give people, like me, the opportunity to contribute to someone else’s life and dream, whether it be to provide education or clean water. Anne Frank once said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” Giving back to our communities and helping others around the world, unites us as one and creates a stronger society and a better future for later generations.
