Ever since I was a little boy, I have dreamed of having a job in the tech industry. It has always been something that just clicked with me ever since I got my first computer, and I have always been interested in finding out how technology can improve quality of life, automate tedious business processes, as well as help users become more knowledgeable. IT professionals put a lot of thought into these concepts, and they are the reason why we live in an ever changing society. Of course, as technology gets more advanced, so does crime. It is then the responsibility of a young, connected individual such as myself to prevent businesses from being vulnerable to these attacks, even if that means locking down access to social media sites in the workplace. It has always been my philosophy that there is no such thing as too much security, since any weakness can and will be exploited.
Of course, one needs adequate experience to make such a dream into reality. Those wishing to enter the field should start off by majoring in IT or Computer Science, as well as studying separately for their CompTia and Cisco Certifications, and, if possible, getting into a summer internship, mainly for the sake of getting your foot in the door. Afterwards, you would need a few years of experience as a Helpdesk Technician, and then you could be eligible for a position in Network Admin.
So far, I have completed a 4 month internship at a family owned company as a Junior PC Technician, and if all goes well, I should have a job in my career in 5 years or less.
