If I were to earn a living doing what I love most, it would be designing advertisements or acting in a Public Service Announcement that focuses on diversity and promoting equality. Being an African-American with a sexuality that differs from most, I have experienced the struggles and rejection from old friends and family. I have felt the oppression that is tagged along with being anything but “normal” in today’s society and have pinned with stereotypes that completely contradict who I really am. I would work and try to prevent any other person from feeling the way I felt by positively influencing what people think. I would explain that we need to create an environment where every person feels they have an equal and fair opportunity to succeed in life. I fear too many teens and adults today have been neglected of the love and care they could receive from not only family, but also friends and even complete strangers. In my opinion, good deeds should not only stem from those who are close to you, but also from those who agree that everyone is born as an equal despite their race, gender or sexual orientation. For that reason is why I would design or create, “Promoting Unconditional Equality in Today’s Society,” a PSA/advertisement that would hopefully change the minds of many for the better. Just small steps in achieving peace, not only in our homes, but throughout the world.
