When I began to think about what I wanted to do with my life, I knew I wanted to do something I enjoyed, something that every day when I woke up I would look forward to the day. After some time, a lot of thought, and some help from family and friends, I discovered what I wanted to pursue: working at a camp. Although rather unusual, my dream job would involve working at an outdoor camp, facilitating groups through challenge courses, working with kids through summer programs, and providing a place for people to visit to enjoy nature and spend time together. Through my work, I want to help challenge people to discover more about themselves, and to gain and feel confidence in themselves as individuals. In addition, I want to help provide a place for people to come relax and focus on simple things in life, as well as provide a perfect place for families to enjoy time together. As I pursue my dream through an outdoor education major at college, I’m also adding to my personal experiences with working at different camps, practicing the skills I receive at college and working with people at church and other places. But all I do to prepare with be nothing like the job I dream of having one day.
