I will be attending college, for the first time, at the age of 22. I have always done the right things- eat right, exercise, etc. I love to cook and share my foods with others. I wanted to do something with these particular things that matter to me most and being a nutritionist was the perfect fit. I did my research and decided to enroll in school. Just this year, my cousin and her husband felt called by God to move to the Dominican Republic to become missionaries. They are selling pretty much everything they have and moving down there, with their 2 children, sometime in early 2015. As I looked into the country, much of the population is in poverty. My cousin and her family will be sponsoring an orphanage and school in this particular area. The children are fed meager meals and most are not at their physical requirements. I would love to gain my degree and head down to the Dominican Republic to not only help the children in this area, but to show them God’s love. Being a nutritionist would not only help my life, but the lives of others who would not otherwise have a chance. I know going to this country would be a big step and choice in my life, but I am determined to do it. Of course, financial responsibilities are an obstacle, but with this scholarship it can help me go through school and my church will sponsor me in my trip in any way they can. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me!
