I noticed that lately young African-American women are having to prove something to the world. We need to erase the hate within our culture and society that we care more about our skin color than we do anything else. Within the African-American community we joke and discriminate against certain skin tones when we should embrace all skin tones within our community because if we don’t then who will? If I could earn a living doing what I love most it would be to tell young girls and my peers that our black or brown is beautiful. We shouldn’t talk down on ourselves when society does it enough already. It would change the world because society will see that African-Americans support each other and that we can stand as an united front against hate about our race. I would like to start a movement called #NoShadeGang because it can be the start to getting young African-American women to overlook our own skin tone or shade of color we are to empower one another and support what one another is doing. It could erase hate toward one another in our community.
