Our future lies within the children of the present. I have always been a firm believer in this. I am only twenty years old but I know how import our actions are to the generations to follow. My dream is to travel. I want to obtain knowledge of different cultures and ways of living, develop life and wilderness skills and explore nature at its drastically different landscapes.
There is a purpose though. I want to use my knowledge and create a camp distant from society for adolescents and young adults with substance-abuse, behavioral and emotional problems. I want to use nature as a tool in combination with a multidisciplinary team to lead them to a beautiful and hopeful life. I want to bring back the light laughter we all had in us as children. I want to give them the confidence and skills to carry out a healthy life filled with peace, joy, happiness, purpose, hope and love.
Nature is what I love most. Helping people see the world in new, positive ways is what I love most. Using something I love, to do something I love, is what I work towards every day. I think the prompt of this essay should be, “What do you love most and how will you change the world?” We should all be doing what we love to do as our careers and grow up believing that, along with anything, is possible. That in itself could change the world. That is my ultimate goal.
