Like most, I changed my mind a lot about what I wanted to do when I grew up. However, I have figured what I want to do, and I believe it will change the world. I want to start a rehab facility for female adolescents with eating disorders. I myself struggled with bulimia from the time I was thirteen to eighteen and believe I have learned how to help girls in my situation.
The rehab facility would be employed completely of females, simply because I believe young girls will feel more comfortable talking to fellow women, especially when first opening up. There will be a mix of individual therapy, group therapy, education in nutrition; and medical care. I will seek out speakers to come and talk at the facility that have struggled and overcome similar challenges to motivate the girls.
I plan on the facility’s location to be surrounded by nature. This way, therapeutic activities such as hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and such recreational activities are available to the girls. I will also employ service animals as an additional resource. Church services will be available, though not required. Each resident will have a roommate, for support and friendship.
It took me a while to find something I was truly passionate about. However, there is nothing I have found that I feel more strongly about as this. Not all facilities out there are good, and I feel there is a need for what I plan to establish.
