If I could make a living doing what I love to do, I would do exactly what I’m going to school for. I enjoy helping other people, and since I have been in medicine, I have found a special place in my heart for Pediatric Medicine. Since becoming a Paramedic, I have worked for a major pediatric trauma center and the doctors here have inspired me to further my career and seek out a degree as a Physician’s Assistant. As a Physician’s Assistant I would work on community outreach to give aide to those children who do not otherwise have access to healthcare. As a P.A. I would hope to merge my new skills with those of my Paramedic training, bringing the care to the patients in a pre-hospital setting, allowing for some preventative medicine, rather than always seeing the negative aftermath of poorly planned events. Currently I also teach providers Pediatric Advanced Life Support, I would also like to expand on this and offer additional courses, including CPR, to community groups alongside rural EMS systems that are not always included in these types of training due to their geographical distance from metropolitan trauma center. These skills allow me to give back to my community, which in turn gives me the feeling that I have changed my small portion of the world for the better.
