“You were put on this Earth to make a difference in the lives of others” are the words that remind me everyday of what I dream of doing. I have been involved with non-profit work throughout my life thanks to the actions my parents took to instill the importance of this. My mother always told me that we were on this Earth to make a difference in the lives of others and this is something that I took into account when deciding what I wanted to do with my life. The second most important thing my mother always told me, was to make sure I picked a career that would make me happy, inspire me and something I was simply passionate about. The amazing thing about being involved with non-profit work is seeing the way it helps people in need, the way it changes people that are involved and the way it inspires others who are not involved.
There are many careers I would enjoy but I realized once I entered college, as a Business major, that the only career that would really make me happy is one in which I enrich the lives of others. So, I switched my major from Business to Communication, continued working with non-profit organizations and I plan on taking internships in this specific field to lengthen my knowledge. I dream of working for non-profit organizations so I can earn a living by doing what I love and make a difference.
