My first mission trip was taken in June 2014. I was not exactly sure what to expect, but I knew it was for a good cause. My CYO traveled 6 hours North of Pass Christian, MS to Mound Bayou, MS, which is located in the Delta. The Delta is considered the poorest area in the country, and the fact that it is so close to home made it more meaningful. The people of Mound Bayou do not have much, so my CYO going to reach out brought many smiles to many faces. I remember doing yard work, the most. I actually enjoyed clipping bushes, and the feeling after completing that task was great. The feeling of being helpful is what pushes me to want to be a full time mission worker. There is a great sense of accomplishment I feel after seeing someone smile over my helpful work.
My actual major is psychology and that all started when I thought about how many people I would be able to help, whether it be with counseling or diagnosis. So either way it goes, my dream job would be to help people because I know that is something that I love to do. Mission work would just be great because it wouldn’t require eight years of schooling, you would be able to just go out and start helping people with a smile on your face.
