If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would be working as an engineer, designing spacecraft and spaceframes, for a private aerospace firm. This is my dream. It is why I am going to college at the University of Virginia, studying aerospace engineering.
Ever since childhood, I have dreamed of working on vehicles that would fly into outer space. I still dream about this. To make this dream a reality, I plan to attend UVA for four years to get an education in aerospace engineering. After that, I plan to work in the engineering field for a couple of years before going to graduate school to further my education and work towards my goal. After getting a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, I want to begin working at a private aerospace firm.
It is my belief that private industry is the future of American spaceflight. I also believe that, in the next couple of decades, that industry will continue to grow rapidly. Soon, Americans will be expanding their horizons to include not just the planet Earth, but colonies on Mars, orbital colonies, lunar colonies and mining operations on asteroids. I want to get in on the ground floor of this burgeoning industry.
I believe that by going to college and graduate school, I will work my way toward a job in the aerospace industry. Someday, I hope to be designing craft that will operate outside the boundary of Earth’s atmosphere.
