To live the American dream is something everyone strives for. In today’s world, education is essential to do so. Unfortunately, the same institutes that promise to safeguard our future also cause years of financial stress for students. 37 million Americans, such as myself, are finding that they wake up one day with the weight of thousands of dollars in student loan debt. Having to then sacrifice jobs in a desirable field to take jobs that will pay the bills. These are the reasons that I would want to open a student debt consulting firm. I love helping people and knowledge is indeed power. Based on the statistics of Americans currently in debt, including myself, most people are not aware of all the scholarships available. Throughout your entire high school career there is no class to help guide you to the right scholarships available for you. When you go to your college orientation the financial aid department does not offer advice on how to apply for scholarships. I would try to start my student debt consulting program at a high school level, but also provide services for students already enrolled in college as well. This idea would change the lives of so many young individuals and help them to achieve their goals by lessening the financial burden of getting an education. After all, why punish these hard-working individuals with the burden of debt when they should be rewarded for trying to better their future and the future of their society!
