My goal in life is to build a music program that is available to students for a minimal price. The purpose would be to offer musical training to students who cannot afford private lessons or attendance in the music programs offered in their own schools. I believe that everybody should have the opportunity to learn how to play music and improve their musical skills because it provides a healthy outlet for young adults to express themselves while creating something beautiful that they can be proud of, which builds their self esteem in the process. This goal could be met through networking throughout schools to lend instruments and practice space for weekly meetings, which makes it possible to keep any cost of attendance at a minimum. Participating schools could also compile a community library by recycling their old music so the program could have a wide variety of music available without having to pay full price. Schools that loan music and instruments could be compensated through discounted lessons for their students and help with their bands through volunteer and discounted woodwind, brass, visual, and percussion aides that are also involved in the community program. This program would also help connect schools and create a closer community of music educators within a region.
