The concept of film has come a long way from the age of silent films to become a medium that transcends the original box office theaters in which it gained popularity. With the ever advancing internet, the nightly news can be now viewed with only clicks of a mouse. Although many individuals use moving pictures for recreational activities such as showing how cuteness of their cat, Film can be used for more thoughtful and noble causes. Ever since I was ten, I always wanted to be a filmmaker. With my simple digital camera, I would film my day and the mundane events that would unfold from taking my dog Chester out to playing football in the backyard. One year I decided to film every family event and then put the clips together into a movie for Christmas. When I showed the film to them that year, they were happy to know that some great memories were captured. Five years later, I showed the same film to them again and it was received to sadness as they saw members of our family that we lost during that time span. This five year difference showed me that film not only can entertain but can convey feelings that can have a lasting effect on the viewer. With the love to make films and the desire to tell stories, I would change the world by broadcasting the stories of others that would reveal clandestine problems and progress social justice for the world to see.
