If I could earn a living doing what I love most I would make video games. The video game industry has quite the stigma surrounding it. People on the “outside” have a hard time taking video games very seriously. This is because most media that reaches the average consumer tends to be either immature or loud and obnoxious. This is a stigma I want to break down, so the video games industry can be taken more seriously.
By their very nature video games have a great amount of potential as an art form. Unlike most art video games allow the consumer of interact with the media, to experience action, drama or comedy first hand. A great deal could be done with this, but at this point in time the industry has produced very few masterpieces and nothing that could be considered the “Citizen Kane of video games”. This is what to do for a living to try and turn the video game industry into something people can take seriously by creating something meaningful.
I realize that this is very ambitious goal, becoming a great artist or director has no set of instructions. The only thing I can do is what people like Orson Welles or Steven Spielberg and create and experience that speaks to people.
