If I could earn a living in a profession of my choice, I would choose a Speech-Language Pathologist. This is my intended major for the Fall 2014 semester. I have always appreciated the company of children; I feel it would be an honor to be able to educate them, as well as help them overcome their struggles in speech. As a student, I have always prided myself in English being my strong point. If I could pass on my knowledge to others, I would be inspired to help as many kids as possible. I have the patience and passion that I think is necessary to excel in this career. I have known many teachers personally, and seeing the joy that working with children brings them is something I would like to experience for myself one day. Many people choose their career based on the salary, but what is a heap of money worth without internal bliss?
I may not be able to transform the entire world all at once or win the Pulitzer Prize, but I can always be there to guide the children in need and possibly change their world. To me, changing the world isn’t doing something for everyone to recognize you; it’s doing enough for yourself and others to know that what you have accomplished has made a positive impact on someone else. Sometimes it’s the small things in life that can make the biggest difference.
