One piece of advice I have received was do something that you love, and never settle for less. I live by these words and I am doing everything possible to achieve my dream. To me success is not measured by the amount of money I make but by the fun I have doing it. If I could get paid for doing something that I love, it would be providing care to a variety of children as a Clinical Child Psychologist. As more children grow up with a better self-image, awareness of their true feelings, and the ability to make better decisions for themselves, they would have a positive impact on the world. Children are the future.
It will take many years to reach my dream job, however I have a gift with children and the power to make it happen. I am starting at Miami University in the fall for my Undergraduate, then I am going on to Graduate School and my ultimate goal is to achieve my PhD. In hopes of reaching more children I am taking Sign Language this fall also. I truly feel that there is nothing more rewarding than helping a child to see their life as a positive thing. Children open up to me and volunteering at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has provided me with such rewarding experiences as well as babysitting a child with Autism, and working at a camp with two girls with Down syndrome.
