Have you ever heard the story of John? John the Baptist? Correction, John the Baptizer. He was the man who lived in the middle of the dessert preaching the Gospel. When I was younger, I always dreamed about living off the land. Now that I am older and the “responsibility” factor has come full blown and I cannot simply walk away to do the things I always want to do. However, if I could earn a living off of what I loved doing the most it would be like John. I would live off the land, travel, educate those thirty for the truth and serve those less fortunate. My specific goals are to become a professor, counselor, author, and a missionary. John was not said to be disgracing his family or a disappointment to society. If I could, without being looked down because I am doing what everybody else does my age, I would leave my surroundings now and start my own ministry. I would help the world by coming along side individuals who simply need someone to listen. My steps to get there involve daily choices I make and not just plans involving my degree and internships. It is about continually learning to be less about me but not thinking less of me. I do put these things into practice and will continue to do so; an example of me acting upon these very words is my upcoming mission trip to India to visit with children. Doing what I love should not all be wrapped upon how much money I make but what difference I can make.
