Man is distinctively set apart from other mammals in being upright. As such he needs incredible balance to keep him from falling. Fortunately, there is man’s feet to serve as his means of balance and stature. Thus, the feet serves an important role in man.
Over the years awareness has been drawn to the sensitivity of the feet due to certain conditions that could affect it and the body as a whole. Flat feet is one of those conditions and it is prevalent in individuals of all race and gender. Research has shown that it could lead to pain in the ankle, gait dysfunction and physical fatigue. In children, it leads to loosening of certain tissues in the feet such that the arch of the feet cannot be held in its normal place.I am particularly passionate about children and their feet because, as discussed, conditions such as flat feet could have adverse effects on the overall physical and psychological development of a child.
My main career goal and passion is to invest my time in the child podiatry. Additionally, I look forward to partnering with major footwear companies to ensure that the right foot wear is prescribed for children in Ghana who might be suffering or could potentially suffer from flat feet. To achieve this, I will prioritize my education in medicine and begin to secure capital necessary for the initiation of several projects that will promote awareness in flat feet conditions in Ghanaian children, especially.
