What I love most is writing. I have been blessed with many things in my life and I used to have a narrower worldview. Reading and writing woke me up to the fact that there are numerous societal problems that are being dismissed or ignored. If I could I would work as a journalist, writing articles to make other people more aware of social justice issues. I would pull them kicking and screaming from their comfortable, familiar, taught ignorance and show them that there are others suffering who need their help. I want my words to change the world the way words have changed me. To do so, my goals involve a combination of theoretical and practical experience. Classes that work on my writing, that develop my communication skills are the first big step toward my dream. The second step involves increasing my experiences and involving myself in the community. Diving head first into the world and its many issues, and seeing it all up close and firsthand, is vital for ensuring that people can connect with my writing. I want to make maximum use of my talent and potential, and this scholarship will help me with that.
