I am a nursing major so naturally I love helping others. Yes, I do love to eat chocolate, watch movies on rainy days, and run until the point of exhaustion, but changing someone else’s life is more meaningful. As I’m sure many current and future parents to-be dream, I have this dream that my children will live in a better world than what we live in today. Through my mere twenty-one years of existence, I have observed that children and people in general learn by example so leading by example is quite simply the only option for me if I want to change the world. Before I know it I will be graduating and already earning my living as a nurse doing what I love. However, what I love MOST about helping others is the idea that by changing one person’s life you have essentially changed a fraction of the world and as cliché as it is, that’s completely priceless. I know I can’t change the entire world, but I have high hopes that leading by example will influence someone else, whether it be my future children or a complete stranger, to change what may seem like an insignificant portion of our world: another life. Essentially, my dream encompasses the pay-it-forward idea, but in an even larger scheme than just your everyday Starbucks drive thru. Leading by example by helping others to change the world one minuscule part at a time is quite possibly the only realistic dream I have.
