This day seemed the same as any other. I crossed the usual crosswalk on my way to work, and took in the light of the day. Suddenly, the light turned. The woman was traveling at a speed of 65 miles per hour through the red light when she struck me. My body traveled at a rapid rate, and I seemed less conscious by the second. My eyes grew dim, blood pressure dropped, and sound slowly slipped away. My body fought for some time because it was reluctant to give up existence, but my soul acquired new fire and vigor through the transition.
The transition came to a quick halt, and pain replaced peace. I felt someone straddled over my body. My chest was moving at a rhythmic pace. My lungs were forcibly expanding and contracting without effort. The rumble of voices filled my ears and blinding light crept into my opening eyes. I looked up, and saw a young man. The young man had a strength and determination about him. His eyes glowed with life, confidence, and passion. His face showed war, long hours, and a hard life. He looked over at me and said, “You will be just fine bud”, and he was right.
