The first time my grandma taught me how to bake the most delicious melt-in-your-mouth dinner rolls she told me to “put my foot in it,” but that phrase never really expressed how we felt about the love we put into our baking so instead, I started saying “put a kiss in it.” Our love kept us together, much like our baking did and every bite of a fluffy creation was as passionate and filled with care as a loving kiss. I dream about one day opening ‘Kay B’s Kisses Bakery’ and hopefully my baked goods could change the world by adding a little more love, happiness, and social bonding.
I continued to perfect my craft by baking for friends birthdays and working with student-run catering service to provide my baked goods for student organizations’ events. I am also working on a product lists to make sure that I have a menu that is not only tasty and fun, but one that my prices would be competitive in the market and affordable to college students.
I believe that the most important aspect of making this successful business is to continue to keep the same love I had as a little girl in my grandmother’s kitchen. No matter where life takes me, the most important thing to remember is to always put a kiss into everything I do.
