I believe that every human being has a tremendous amount of value. I was born in Houston, Texas where I spent the majority of my childhood as a Preacher’s Kid. Milton Hollins, my father, is a bishop and Minister of Music whiles my mother Brenda is a pastor and evangelist. I have seven siblings, two of which have gone to college and made successful careers. Two of my sisters are currently attending Langston University in Oklahoma.
Just a little about myself, I love variety in everything from the way I dress to the many things I find fascinating. If I could describe myself in a few words, it would be meticulous, caring, intuitive, creative, and cultured. My hobbies include reading, creative writing, and art. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to things I am passionate about. Raised in a family full of musicians, I have developed a love for all genres, decades, and languages of music. I am inspired by the poetic lyrics of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Jim Croce, Billy Joel, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and so many others. Some of my favorite novels are Frankenstein, Aesop’s Fables, The Color Purple, and The Great Gatsby. Green is my favorite color, along with earth tones and pastels. I am a real fruit fly and have developed an addiction to chocolate.
Last year, I attended Desert Hot Springs High Desert Hot Springs High Schoolwhere I took AP English. Mrs. Stagg was my instructor and a good mentor. She enjoyed my input in class discussions and my talent in creative writing. At the District Poetry Slam at Palm Springs High, I placed 2nd with three original poems of mine. Afterwards, I asked Mrs. Stagg to review some of my poetic work during lunchtime. Over the course of the year, we developed a close relationship. She invited me to assist in other class periods where students struggled with comprehending the literary elements found in creative writing. Even though I passed her class with a C letter grade, she encouraged me to pursue a career as an author.
In my short time on this earth, I have learned to see the value in people. My whole life, I have dealt with Asperger’s Syndrome and Anxiety Disorder. Despite the excessive amount of coal that has been cast upon me, my anointing has shined through all obstacles. Every precious matter must undergo heat and pressure before it can come close to our standard of perfection. Given a new perception on life, I know in my heart that my value was there the whole time. It is my dream to help others fine their value. Every problem we see in the world is due to the robbing of people’s value for the advancement of the elite. There is nothing that I wouldn’t do to create a better way of life full of humanity.
